E-News from Tom: 1/14/11
Hello E-News Friends,
Sometimes you have to thep (think with steps) to know what you should think about. An example would be, if I want to sleep without bad dreams, I have to think about what I should watch on TV that evening and take steps to make sure the right program is on before bed time. Movies with titles like Scream, Slash, or Behind the Curtain are not helpful to my peaceful nighttime thoughts. For that matter neither is Jersey Shore or Keith Olberman from MSNBC (sorry to some of you). I prefer a good old cartoon (The Jetsons) or an ESPN highlight that I've already seen five times that evening. And quite often a book is the best thep.
This week we will talk about what God says is good to think about. It makes a world of difference to your day (and night) if you follow His suggestions. The first thing He suggests is....(I'll tell you Sunday!)
I really do love you all and am proud to be part of what God is doing through each of you. You are a light to your family and friends! Keep shining and learning how to point people towards Jesus (The Great Difference Maker)! Keep inviting as well!
In His Grace,
Tom

E-News from Tom: 1/7/11
Hello E-News Friends,
Habits are tough to break. I will fall asleep in bed and I wake up and Kathy is staring at me. She says she can’t help it. She just loves to look at me. You see that is an example of a hard habit to break. (My lying)
Sometimes I am glad that habits are that way. Giving a goodnight kiss (truly), saying I love you before leaving, and a real big one…going to worship God on Sunday. I don’t have to think about those things much, I just do them. They are beneficial to my life, hopefully yours as well.
I am encouraging you to make Oak Bridge a habit. It has been the difference-maker for many of us as we are learning to follow Jesus in all areas of our life. The Bible says it this way;
“And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” Hebrews 10:24-25
Sunday really is Funday, as well as an essential day if you want to grow closer to the One whose name is above all names!
I hope to see you Sunday! It’s a great habit!
In His amazing grace and truth!
Tom
