E-News from Tom: 7/01/11

Hello E-News Friends,

What is boring, irrelevant, and wants your money? “A life insurance policy? An ex-girlfriend (boyfriend)? The Internal Revenue Service? A professional soccer match (sorry)? “ Those might be some answers to that question, but the one that would probably pop up most would be the Church, and unfortunately, in a lot of cases that would be correct. Should it be that way?

This week we will look at how God intends His Church to be (and to feel), and what happens when the Church is working in our lives the way it was intended to. I hope you can be there Sunday to celebrate the Fourth and this thing called the Church. An amazing gift from God!

Have a great weekend…remember sunscreen and lots of fluids…and honor God with your thoughts, prayers, and love for others…He is so worthy!

In His grace and love,

Tom

BigStuf Camp

We are officially SOLD OUT. All camp fees are due now. Students who are still interested in going should put their name on a “wait list.” If any openings come available, those on the list will receive the first opportunity.

Parents we are having one last informational meeting tonight, Tuesday, June 28, at 7pm at the Oak Bridge Center. If you haven’t made it to one of the previous meetings, you need to attend this meeting.

If you have questions, contact Tracy Hagan (314-846-5722), Katie Haegele (303-4267) or Clarissa Karasick (314-303-3632).

BigStuf Olympics

It’s that time again for fun and wacky games to introduce us to all the students and leaders going to BigStuf. The Olympics will be at Grant’s Shelter in Jefferson Barrack’s Park on Sunday, July 10, from 1-4pm. Lunch will be served. Camp T-Shirts will be handed out! Come on all you campers, don’t miss out on a great time!

Edge Service

There will be an Edge Service on Sunday, July 17 from 6-9pm (doors open at 5:30) for all students in Junior High and High School. This won’t be a normal Edge. We will serve Pizza and have a blast playing games (yes, those crazy Noblitt games) followed by a worship service. This is a great time to hang out with other students going to BigStuf and to invite friends.

E-News from Tom: 6/24/11

Hello E-News Friends,

I heard the Oak Bridge service this past weekend was great and we have some new music video stars in the making! (I’m sure their “thug rating” has to go up a notch or two to really give them a legit chance. Maybe a couple trips to the local tattoo parlor can do the trick. How about it fellas?) A special thanks to Patty Burks who delivered an excellent God -honoring message on overcoming hardship. And as usual our band is “off- the chain”! (Don’t say it. I already know my cool factor is going in reverse, but with rappers like we have who cares!)

This week will be another week you won’t want to miss at the OB. If God speaks to your heart half as much as He did mine (and the interns “they call themselves OBterns”) this past week, you will have a lot to think about. That is a very good thing! See photos of our Haiti trip (with which your generosity made possible!), hear some stories from the week, and feel the presence of our Father as He guides us to a greater level of love for Him and His children. All in all, it should be another “Funday Sunday”! Aren’t you thankful we have a church like that! (I am!)

I hope to see you all this weekend as we honor the One who gives truth, grace, wisdom, and life. He is worthy of our trust and time!

In His grace and with His love,

Tom

PS I’ll have a whole new description for you of the term “good road” Sunday. 90 miles in 9 hours! Port Au Prince to Bohoc (in an un-airconditioned bus!)…..Just another day in Haiti!

PSS The movie “Soul Surfer” Sunday evening at Keller should be a blast! It’s free....so sign-up to reserve your seat this Sunday morning!
