E-News from Tom: 12/31/10

Hello E-News Friends,

Here is a great verse to think on as you start the New Year. David wrote it a few thousand years ago, but it is still just as true today.

I will exalt you, my God the King; I will praise your name forever and ever.
Every day I will praise you and extol your name forever and ever.

Great is the LORD and most worthy of praise; his greatness no one can fathom.
One generation commends your works to another; they tell of your mighty acts.
They speak of the glorious splendor of your majesty— and I will meditate on your wonderful works.
They tell of the power of your awesome works— and I will proclaim your great deeds.
They celebrate your abundant goodness and joyfully sing of your righteousness.

The LORD is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.

The LORD is good to all; he has compassion on all he has made.
All your works praise you, LORD; your faithful people extol you.
They tell of the glory of your kingdom and speak of your might,
so that all people may know of your mighty acts and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures through all generations.

Psalm 145:1-13

Start the year right at Oak Bridge on Sunday! He deserves our time and praise!

I hope this 2011 you have more of God in your life. Together we can grow in faith, hope, and love!

God loves you! Jesus is the proof!

In His Grace,

Tom

PS I would appreciate your prayers as 59 of us are travelling to Atlanta to praise the one who makes the moon reflect the sun! Like Davis said, “I will exalt you, my God the King!”

E-News from Tom: 12/23/10

Hello E-News Friends,

Merry Christmas!

With that said, I would encourage all of you to take a deep breath and slow down. I know you are tied up right now with the 3 Bs...baking, buying, and being busy (okay it could be 4 Bs). But you will miss out on time with the one whose birth you are celebrating if you don’t pause for a moment or two. Pause to say some prayers of thanks. Pause to read a couple chapters of John. Pause to remember why God sent Jesus into this world. Pause because it will make a difference in your attitude.

“But Martha was distracted by all the preparations that had to be made. She came to him and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to do the work by myself? Tell her to help me!”

“Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one. Mary has chosen what is better, and it will not be taken away from her.” Luke 10:40-42

We are all tempted by time pressure to do things that are important, just not important enough to neglect time with God. Take a drive tonight and see the lights as you play songs that lift up our God and King.

Have a “Mary” Christmas not a “Martha” Christmas!

You are all super! You can do it!

In His Grace,

Tom

E-News from Tom: 12/17/10

Hello E-News Friends,

It has been a big week for Oak Bridge already. We gave out 2,000 toys/stockings to over 225 children representing approximately 150 families! Not to mention a few hundred cookies, crafts, and heartfelt hugs and smiles. The Christmas “StockingStuff” was a great success! For many, gratitude will replace sadness because of your efforts! We are praying many of these families will eventually attend Oak Bridge. Oftentimes God works through our compassion to others to grow their faith in His Son!

Tonight the doors open @ 6:15 (at the OBC) for the Christmas performance of “God with Us.” The actual start time is 6:45ish. There are tickets still available for tonight and tomorrow, you can get them at the door. The dress rehearsal last night was super! You (and your friends) will really enjoy it! The best $5 money can buy! Trust me!

Sunday is our “Christmas” service and it is going to be powerful! Great music, one of the best videos I have ever seen (especially if you’re into Facebook), a huge amount of cookies (a pre-thanks to all of you!), and a message (part of The Story series) that prayerfully God wants us to hear and apply.

Be an inviter! Those invites can change a person’s life forever!

In His amazing grace and love,

Tom

PS If many of you can come to the first service that would be a great help!

PPS Don’t forget I really love oatmeal cookies with raisins and kinda crispy on the bottom but still chewy in the center. Next favorite is chocolate chips with…. See you Sunday!
